Yellow Bird 6x6 SOLD

I don't know about you all but I am ready for spring. I just had a new roof put on yesterday and last night they said another ice storm was coming through. My only hope is that the last ice storm took out so many of my trees that there is nothing left to fall on the house! Anyways... back to Spring.... I went to teach my adult painting class this morning and found this cute little bird perched up in one of the branches in a vase in the frame store next door. I picked it out of the tree, stuck it in a little still life and here he is.... I must say that taking a photo at night w/o proper lighting left this little guy a bit pale. He is really bright yellow. Anyways, I think I will pop this on ebay in a day or two. To check out my ebay site click here

The Magic Age Original Oil by Margaret Aycock

Please forgive me... I have been soooo busy lately trying to sell a house, do my taxes and work on a zoning issue with my studio that my only time for painting is my class time. I have been working for quite some time on this painting with my adult class. I think we started on this around Christmas and I think I can safely say that it is done ( you never know though... it grew marbles only today! ) Anyways this started as a thought.... The Magical time of childhood when you can create a house in the jungle with tv trays and sheets. A box can fly you to the moon. If you are fortunate enough to have a parent who loves to read to you, why whole new worlds open up. This painting is full of things that sparked my own imagination as a child. See if you can find some from your own childhood. I just put this on ebay today but I will probably enter it into a show or two as I really like it a lot and it is a small break from business as usual for me. If you are interested in visiting my ebay gallery click here.
My blog has more about me... click here and write me at artistswaygallery@yahoo.com

DVD Margaret Aycock Paints Reflective and Transparent Objects

Hot off the presses... This is my new Instructional DVD. In this DVD I show the process of painting a still life with both reflective and transparent objects. I will discuss set up including some money saving tips on supplies. For this class I will also tell you that I am using Winsor Newton student grade paints ( Winton ) They work great and are relatively inexpensive. I order directly from Dickblick.com. If you would like my pallet list just write and I will send to you. I will talk about diffent ways to hold your brush for different effects, paint mixing, composition, abstract design, drawing tricks, measuring and much more. I am filming this in my adult class. Lots of great information... lots of fun. PS the music in the beginning and at each break is from my son's CD, "Life's Ladder" to listen to the CD.... http://myspace.com/jesseaycock

SOLD...A Day at the Beach 6"x6" oil daily paintings

I did this during the big ice storm in Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago. Didn't post it then because we were out of power for 1 1/2 weeks. It was actually nice painting during the time of day where the sun shone into my kitchen to warm me and I had my little wood stove cranked up just a few feet away. Life is good, even during an ice storm! I think this little painting warmed me up a bit too. Nothing like being on the beach in the middle of winter. I have this posted this week on auction at my ebay site. If it doesn't sell on auction this week ( auction starts at $39 ) the price will jump to my usual $99 for a 6x6 oil on stretched canvas. Click HERE to go directly to my ebay gallery.

SOLD! Waterhouse Meets Oklahoma, Original Oil by Aycock

Each semester I demonstrate the technique of glazing to my students. I love to use Waterhouse and Bouguereau as a jumping off point. On this one I changed it up quite a bit and put Waterhouse's lovely model in the middle of an Oklahoma praire. I painted this around Halloween and I think you can tell I was in the mood for a spooky atmosphere. I put this out for auction on my ebay site just a minute ago. The photo never does them justice but perhaps you can imagine a girl with glowing hair on a deserted praire just as the wind picks up. Boo! click here for my ebay store

Home on the Range 11x14 oil on canvas, by Margaret Aycock

One day a few months ago I decided to go out and paint just down from my neighborhood where they had torn out a bunch of houses to make way for the new college. I was painting merrily along when what to my wondering eyes should apear but about 25 black men on horseback! Glad I had my trusty ol' camera. I snapped a pic or two and continued to paint. Yesterday I found the painting and the photograph and decided it was time to jazz up the painting w a couple of riders so here is the finished product. It was just what it needed. You can buy it here for $300 or check out ebay and bid on it in the auction. midwest-fine-art.com is my ebay store.

Gilcrease Workshops

Workshops at Gilcrease Museum Hey Oklahoma artists and Oklahoma neighbors, I am working on this project and could use your input. In an effort to bring top artists to Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum to teach painting, drawing, pastel workshops we thought we would poll the artistic community to see if this would fill a need for you. We know that many of you travel great distances to attend workshops in Scottsdale and Fredricksburg and points beyond and might enjoy bringing the artists to you for a change. If you would please respond to artistswaygallery@yahoo.com with the answers to the following questions we would appreciate it. We are willing to create this for you if you are willing to show up. Part of showing up is responding to this email. Oh, and as a side note, I will be teaching 2 workshops at Gilcrease coming up in February and another in April. Cedars in Snow

I just finished this little painting. This one is 11x14. I liked it so much that I am planning to do a small series of these little trees in the 6x6 size and put them here on the blog and on ebay. Normally we don't get this much snow here in Oklahoma but the old saying, "when you get lemons, make lemonaide," kinda works here too..... when you get snowed in, do some snow paintings! This little scene is just a few blocks from my house. Enjoy and check back later to snap up one of the little 6x6's. You may purchase this painting by going to midwest-fine-art. Questions, write me at artistswaygallery@yahoo.com
